There Will Be War
Netanyahu came to DC to secure the green light for war with Iran and he got it.
Good Morning - there will be war.
The true bankruptcy and corruption of the entire Washington establishment was on full display last month when Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu received a hero’s welcome from Congress. In a time of bitter partisanship that has crippled America's governing institutions, the only thing Congress can uniformly support is the bellicose escalation urged on by a foreign leader. Such is proof positive that AIPAC and its donors have succeeded in buying Congress wholesale and subverting the will of average Americans who do not want another war.
So, what happens next? Netanyahu came to DC with one expressed goal - to get the green light from US elected officials for war with Iran. Netanyahu's plan could not be more transparent; pivot away from a failed campaign in Gaza where the Israeli Defense Force (IDF) has killed tens of thousands, perhaps as many as 100K mostly innocent civilians, while utterly failing to defeat Hamas, and towards escalation with Iran. When in doubt expand the war, a tactic tried and failed many times by American presidents from Vietnam to Afghanistan.
The time table is key. Netanyahu is well versed in US politics and he knows that elections are close at hand, which means America's short-attention span for foreign affairs will be diverted in the near future. Further, he knows that Israel cannot fight Iran and potentially others (esp. Turkey) without US military backing. So recent assassinations designed to provoke Iran on top of ongoing skirmishes with Hezbollah along the Lebanese border and the deployment of US Naval forces to the region have set in motion a thunderous collision.
Between now and election day may be the most dangerous time we have seen since the Cuban Missile Crisis.
Meanwhile, the US public is completely focused on the worsening economy and upcoming elections. Between now and election day may be the most dangerous time we have seen for the United States since the Cuban Missile Crisis. Israel's escalation comes at a time when relations between the US and Russia are extremely tense and Chinese patience with unstable DC leadership is running thin. Both it should be noted will support Iran if conflict with Israel were to arise.
At the very least, a regional war in the Middle East is on the cards. Sadly, the region is already ablaze: Gaza’s humanitarian crisis, Syrian civil war, the collapse of Lebanon, fencing between USN and Houthi tribes in the Red Sea, etc. A hot war with Iran will turn a powder keg into a potential mushroom cloud. Worse, if the US commits it is hard to imagine how such a conflict does not pit Eurasia's great powers against us in a war in which America has nothing to gain and everything to lose.
A hot war with Iran will turn a powder keg into a potential mushroom cloud.
DC elites have learned the wrong lessons from the last 50 years. They believe they can indiscriminately regime change, bomb countries from afar, and sanction non-western powers because America is untouchable.
This time we will feel it. How bad it gets depends on the American people, and their willingness to forcefully stop a Kleptocratic elite before they destroy what is left of a hollowed out nation in favor of "special interests". At the top of that list sits PM Netanyahu.
Welcome to End of Cycle.
